Students in the School of Social Work are expected to develop a professional identity, be committed to the service of others, and uphold the values and ethics of the profession. They are expected to work independently and to think critically, motivated by their own intellectual curiosity, respect for knowledge, and desire to become competent professional practitioners.
The academic year for Loyola's MSW program at Carthage is divided into two 10-week summer semesters and a fall and a spring semester of 12 weeks each. Field placements occur in the spring and the fall and are over a 16-week period.
A distinguishing feature of the School of Social Work is commitment to the individualization of each student and to maintaining a viable educational program that is responsive to the student body, to the profession of social work, and to the client populations it serves.
