Credit may be extended only for graduate courses (including field courses) successfully completed in a degree program in a member school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education in which the grade was "B" or better. No more than 30 semester credit hours of such credit can be applied toward a master's degree conferred by Loyola University Chicago. Petition for transfer of credit must be made at the time of application to the school. Quarter hours will be converted to semester hours for transfer. Credit will not be given for courses taken more than four years ago.

The academic year for Loyola's MSW program at Carthage is divided into two 10-week summer semesters and a fall and a spring semester of 12 weeks each. Field placements occur in the spring and the fall and are over a 16-week period.
